In our Fall sermon series, “Rooted,” we will be studying the book of Philippians. Paul, writing from prison, was able to transfer to the church in Philippi the content of this letter because he was rooted in Christ. His desire was for the Philippians to live the same way, despite their circumstances or cultural pressures. Jesus is calling us as a church to be rooted in Him in this season where so much of life is up in the air, and our culture pressures us to go in divergent directions that would undermine our faith and community. There's also an eschatological theme in the book--"the day of Jesus Christ" (being the Second Coming) which serves as our vision to motivate us to be rooted in the present. As we remain rooted in Christ, despite crises, circumstances, and culture, Jesus will preserve us in Him until that day.
