Promised Suffering

Life of Promise: The Gospel of Matthew

I. Suffering division from others (vv. 34-37) II. Suffering the loss of our "selves" (vv. 38-39) III. Suffering that yields immeasurable gain For Reflection: What relationships might suffer a division if you follow (or keep following) Jesus? What parts of your (false) self might you lose if you follow (or keep following) Jesus? Honestly ask yourself: Do I believe the gain of following Jesus worth suffering those losses?

Scripture References: Matthew 10:34-39

Coming into the fall, TCBC is starting a new fall school semester. We are also defining our next vision and seeking our new Lead Pastor. We anticipate God to be at work in us, among us and through us is remarkable ways as he has promised to do. If we are to faithfully and effectively live for Him, we must know and rely on His promises to us. Jesus is “The Promised One” and not only is He the very source of life, but He lived “The Life of Promise”. In the promises made to Him and made by Him we find that we can live a prevailing life of promise too.
