TCBC's Partnership with the Rafiki Foundation

About Rafiki: Rafiki’s mission is “to help Africans know God by caring for and educating orphans, providing materials and training in education and Bible study, and giving economic opportunities to widows.” To accomplish this vision Rafiki has established Rafiki Training Villages across Africa that provide living, educational, and medical facilities through Rafiki’s four programs: Childcare, Education, Training, and Widows.
TCBC and Rafiki: TCBC’s partnership with The Rafiki Foundation (www.rafikifoundation.org) began in 2007 as a response to the AIDS pandemic. TCBC has a special partnership with the Rafiki village in Malawi. Since 2007, several people of various ages and skill sets have gone on short-term trips to Malawi to serve. TCBC teams typically live in the village with the children and provide care and organize activities for them, while at the same time providing respite for the full-time staff in the Rafiki village.
Rafiki Trip 2012
With joy, TCBC will be sending a third team to Malawi June 2-22. Please keep Lori Frey, Beth Mader, Esther Honegger, Wolfgang Rubrecht, and Tom Carlson in your prayers as they prepare to go to the Rafiki village. They will be building relationships with the children there as they facilitate GAMES - an enrichment time between school terms. Some of the full time staff will be away from the village on furlough so our team will also be helping the ROS that remain. Please pray for their preparations, fundraising, safe travel and growth for the team and the children they serve.
Contact: For more information or questions, contact Sandy Lu Newport using the email contact form below.
Another option for Rafiki involvement: Consider sponsoring a Rafiki chiild. Learn more about sponsorship here.
