I have a long history with TCBC, beginning back in the late 80's when I was a freshman at the University of Illinois.
I grew up in a wonderful Christian family that was actively involved in church, and at the age of 10, I responded to the message of Christ’s love and forgiveness. However, it was my involvement at TCBC and affiliation with InterVarsity at the U of I that led to real growth in my faith. As a college student, I sensed God calling me to ministry, and this call was confirmed during a summer missions trip to Swaziland, Africa.
Upon graduation, I married my college sweetheart, Cathy. After working for a couple of years, we spent two years as missionaries in Swaziland. We then returned to the states where I attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, earning a Master of Divinity degree. During my final year at Trinity, I was given the opportunity to return to TCBC to do an internship. That internship, along with my passion for TCBC’s vision, led me to become Associate Pastor in 2000. After seven years as an Associate Pastor, I moved into the Senior Pastor role.
Cathy and I have three children: Joshua, Matthew, and Anna. Our family loves the university setting of TCBC with its wonderful mix of college students and community people. I also love sports—especially the Fighting Illini variety!
As senior pastor, I have a passion for communicating God’s Word and helping people grow as devoted followers of Jesus Christ. My deep desire is to lead TCBC toward truly being a thriving and influencing church.
